History of Gasburner Academy
Gasburner Academy has a rich history deeply rooted in the legacy of the Gasburner family. Founded by James McKenzie, the truck driving school was established in response to the growing demand for high-quality truck driver and CDL training in East Texas.
The name "Gasburner" holds special significance as it pays homage to Calvin and Ann Kersh, the beloved matriarch and patriarch of the Gasburner family. Calvin, a dedicated truck driver with over 50 years of experience, earned his CB handle, "Gasburner," for being one of the last drivers in the area to operate a gas truck. His expertise, dedication, and commitment to his craft made him a respected figure in the industry.
Ann, too, made her mark as a skilled driver, earning her CB handle, "Lady Gasburner." Together, Calvin and Ann embodied the spirit of the trucking profession, demonstrating professionalism, resilience, and a true passion for the road.
In honor of their contributions and the enduring family legacy, Gasburner Academy was named after the Gasburner handle. By adopting this name, the academy seeks to continue the proud tradition of producing highly skilled and knowledgeable truck drivers who embody the values and work ethic that Calvin and Ann exemplified.
